Title says it all really...

First off - I feel your pain as far as the rant goes. I'm sick of stupid Madness ripoffs that I have to regularly blam on a daily basis. The animation of him talking is pretty decent, if spastic. My problem is the sound. There's so much mic spiking and crackling noise, it's hard to listen to. Also, a ranting face in front of a screenshot of today's flash portal isn't terribly interesting to look at.
As for your message - I hear ya. Tired of the same old bullshit.

Omenator responds:

Thanks for the helpful review - sorry you didn't find it more appealing.

Just an intro, but a good start.

It's just an intro, but it's a decent first step. The art looks pretty good, just needs some sound!
Look forward to seeing one of these completed!

MettalicDwarf responds:

Don't worry, i'm working on it. Thanks.

Not bad, just derivative

First off, let me say this is a fine animation. The animation itself is fairly smooth, if occasionally kinda jerky, and the artwork is clean and simple. Then again, the artwork is just Krinkels' own madness sprites, plus a few of your own thrown in the mix. The plot is the typical madness "tribute" plot of just killing everything in the way to one guy - I know you explained it a little more in depth in your description, but that's all you can really get from the movie itself. The whole flash was fairly well done, if predictable. Even the protagonist getting shot at the end has been done by Krinkels to death. I honestly saw that coming a mile away.
Regardless, this flash suits itself fine as yet another madness "tribute" or what have you. Very few Madness flashes not made by Krinkels himself are terribly inventive or distinct, and this is just another one of them. Take your flash skills and work on something that's yours next. Keep up the work.

thanks... dotn worry my next one will be better

Great work!

Even if it's only a trailer, fantastic stuff. Animation and art are smooth and clean, and the background music isn't bad either.
If you want pointers on making stuff in flash sound good, PM me. I know a bit about audio optimizing that could help you out.

Funny stuff man

Good work with that toon - loved Egoraptor as Prime and Prowl. The art was really good, really close to the original show.
(PS - Transformers work fine as bobblehead types - I almost made em chibis in the three Transformers flashes I did)
Also, extra points for working in "Dare to be Stupid" and the theme from the movie.

Nice job

Funny stuff, even if it came from YTMND first. Clean simple character designs - good charicatures of the guys on the commercials. Grats on the front page!

Buggy.

I liked what I saw, I really did. The art and music were both good, and the animation itself wasn't too bad either (although I prefer a darker surrealism.)
Problem was, the preloader stopped less than halfway through and I had to manually right click and click play. Then in the middle of the animation everything froze up, but the music kept playing. I tried the same thing and nothing happened. Fix the glitches if you can, I really want to see the rest.

Thanks for the heads up, I will try the best I can to make it work better.

Not too bad

I've never seen any of your stuff before, but this isn't too bad. The sound quality is loads better than most flashes here have. It was pretty funny and had a clean, if somewhat bland art style. The one thing I suggest is getting more voice actors. All the voices in this cartoon sounded like the same 13 year old kid. Anyway, keep up the work, hope to see some more from you in the future.

minibeast198 responds:

What's funny is that each character is voice acted by a different person. We do all sound the same though...

Decent first attempt

This is definitely an early attempt at flash, but not a bad one. Most first "fight" animations are just some lousy stickfights with minimal animation, but this was a few steps above those. I think Linkin Park is a little trite for a musical choice, but it's better than the generic techno that plagues the other "fight" animations. Keep working at it, and develop your own style, then you could have something really good. Good start.

Rare to see traditional animation around...

Love your style - really simple, but distinct. Actually reminded me a little bit of the critic and Home Movies - namely the squiggle-vision and conversational dialogue. The cartoon was funny and well written, really enjoyable.

PS - MassArt? I was thinking of applying there back when I was still trying to find a college for me. I'm going to college for animation at AI New England (more of a straight digital process, less traditional)

Anyway, great work, can't wait for more!

Megalantern responds:

MassArt taught a more directorial, experimental type of animation curriculum, and the film I put up here was done with After Effects and Photoshop, but the drawings were all done by hand and scanned in. So while not being outright flash, a lot of flash sensibilities are there. I'm actually learning Flash now from a Studio I was doing some freelance for, and it's really fun, so I hope to keep posting stuff up here. Keep at it yourself, k?

I'm Camtoons. I make cartoons. That's not confusing or anything.
