A textbook poor animation.

The animation itself was incredibly jerky, and not fluid at all. It looked more like a slideshow than like a proper animation. The graphics were incredibly dull as well. The same old Madness sprites were used for the umpteenth time, using the same guns, in the same grey environments.

The sound was almost passable. The gun sounds were as good as you'd find anywhere else, but the voices were awful. The same voice was obviously both heroes, and he was speaking into the microphone very quietly. Speak louder and with more energy into the microphone, the effort really shows.

Finally, the story and plot. The story was incomprehensible and poorly executed. Some things in the story flat out made no sense, like you made a mistake then realized it too late to edit. For instance, the "why did my disguise disappear" part. Or the Deus Ex Machina found in the "magnet that only attracts guns" which is completely, utterly ridiculous. Also, the character is "Gordon" not "Morgan." Morgan Freeman is an actor, Gordon Freeman is the Half Life hero.

However, I can tell you put a good deal of effort into this. You obviously had some sort of idea of how it would play out, and went through the effort to at least find the Madness sprites for your flash. Your skills will improve with time, but for now, all you can do is practice and make more flashes.

the morgan freeman thing was humor, i was making a joke. but thanks for taking the time.

Perfect short little burst

The animation was brief, but just so funny. The animation was really smooth and fluid, and far more 3 dimensional than almost any other Madness flash out there.
The main joke was pretty funny, but seriously, the thing at the end with Garfield may have been my favorite part. I love the image you're making a play on in that part, and it's nice to get an obscenely obscure reference.
Great work as always!

Best WeRBopBop, and the best campaign ad!

Fantastic parody of not only our two candidates, but of action movie trailers in general. The art and animation were even better than the other BopBop toons, which look very good already. The humor was much cleaner than usual as well, which I like more than some of the shock-value stuff in some other BopBop toons. The fact that this cartoon managed to be so damn funny without resorting to that was really great in my opinion.

You also managed to (fairly accurately) portray the characteristics of each candidate well. McCain's warmongering, Palin's reliance on gender, and Obama's "change" campaign, as well as the way the media portrays him. (IE: wrong)

I really like this direction for WeRBopBop, and hope the next one is as good as this one! Consider it fav'd!

A very good start

The art was really nice, and the animation was fluid and smooth.
As you said though, there were audio synching problems. If there was so much as some background music though, your flash would improve greatly.
I like the character designs a lot, and hope they can be in a longer cartoon with some sound added in.
Looking forward to more!

CONG0 responds:

Thank you so much for your response! I'm pleased to hear that the characters of Kraklak were appealing, and that you'd even like to see them in a longer piece!

What the hell just happened, and why do I like it?

If I were to judge this by art alone, it would get a half decent score. It was heavy on the brush tool, which I don't like much. However, it just brought so much random joy. The combination of the impossible to understand music and the simplicity of the longcat made it really entertaining.
Thank you for bringing a smile to this cynical reviewer's face.

Silly

Although I loathe Madness tributes, you do something unique with the concept. I remember seeing the first and enjoying it (even if it was a little hokey) and I feel the same about this one.

Animation was fairly solid, even if the unicorns themselves did not move much at all. Then again, that's part of the Charlie style, so it works in this context.

I will say though, I really hate Slipknot. We covered them in my old band... not the best memories... anyway, the rest of the sound was pretty decent. The "schwing!" sound from the sword is ear splitting, however.

So decent work - some sound issues aside, this was a fairly enjoyable, decent looking cartoon. Wondering what's up for part 3!

Also the tank bleeds. That's teetering on the edge of stupid and awesome, which is a fine, wonderful line.

Very stylish, and funny too!

This was one cool flash. The art was really cool, and all the characters had a neo-noir vibe, with the eternally lit cigarettes and silhouettes.

Funny touches like people saying "love" after everything, and taking pictures of the murder scene were great, and really gave some extra personality to it all.

A stylish, unique, and funny animation. Not many things this original come around on Newgrounds - great work!

Burdoc responds:

Yeah, the neo noir thing was something I was going for, but in a comedy sort of way - I'm glad you got the vibe! I tried to make a fully different and unique style out of the cigarette speaking and black silhoettes, but I think I'll change that in future, seeing as smoking is gradually being phased out in society and will soon turn into something of the past.. It's about time I stopped being lazy and learnt to do some proper lip-synching :(
I'm working on refining this style and adding some new, more modern elements and hopefully make a more entertaining and fun flash series. I've found it's not a bad start looking to your stuff for examples of how to do that!

Thanks for the uplifting comments dude!

At first I didn't have high hopes

It started out and it looked nice, but I really couldn't understand any of the sound. The voices were kind of muffled, but what was onscreen looked really good.
Then there was the "upgrade" scene, where Tony is hammering his crotch, and I just couldn't help but start laughing. Paired with his expressions, the gagball, and the soundtrack music, that was just brilliant.
Penny at the end was a nice touch too!
Great work, now if only we could touch up that sound a little...
4/5 8/10

At first I was really skeptical...

But it grew on me over the course of the animation.
The song was a weird choice, but I love Tenacious D, so I'll give that to ya!
I will say, the animation was lacking. However, for your first submission to Newgrounds (to my knowledge) the art was actually pretty good, and the animated sequences looked decent too; especially the lip synching.
If you made the entire animation of that quality, you'd have something really special on your hands - this is a good start though! If you didn't have the strength of the song to lean on this wouldn't have been anything special, but it was enjoyable enough to watch.
Keep it up, look forward to more from you!

The best Madness tribute continues

99% of Madness tributes on Newgrounds range from bad to unwatchable. Your series offsets this trend with an original narrative, colorful and good looking art style, and a legitimate story to tell, not just mindless violence.
Loved the first one, loved this one, and you can bet I'm looking forward to Xionic Madness 2, come September!
Fantastic work in every aspect!

Xionico responds:

:D yay I survived, thanks ;D

I'm Camtoons. I make cartoons. That's not confusing or anything.
