Put a smile on my face

That was a very entertaining flash! Solid art, and a great concept. Having Santa Claus as Iron Man is a funny idea, and you pulled it off well. Good use of the movie score as well.

It lacked substance, but as you said, it was just a last minute Christmas card. Definitely looking forward to lengthier animations from you in the future, as this one was very good!

Keep it up, and merry Christmas!

zappawadda responds:

Thanks!

It's a start, and a bit of a twist on the formula

First off, I've never seen a Mario flash where he is Megaman. An odd concept, but it actually worked out surprisingly well. Given Mario's many costumes and power up suits, I'm actually surprised noone else has thought to combine the two!

Made me nostalgic for the classic old Megaman games as well. I loved playing them back in the day, and using authentic music from them made the movie work well. It was even laid out like a decent level, which helped it feel fairly authentic to the experience.

My main complaint would be that it is just too small. The stage is about 80% empty, just a white void. Make the backgrounds and sprites bigger and fill up the screen. Everything is small and hard to see, and making things bigger in flash is simple as could be.

Hopefully for the next flash you do you'll have backgrounds that fill up the screen better, and action that doesn't require eye strain to watch. A very solid first flash though.
PS: Was I in the special thanks part of the credits? Very kind of you, and good luck on your future submissions!

AAPNL responds:

well i just got the crazy idea for that concept, i mean the power suits of smb 3 just fitted in perfect with the megaman weapons. next time i will make it bigger and maybe even redo this one with better skills. thanks for your review it is really helpfull.

P.S. you are in the credits for giving me advice you know;) it should be fair that you are in my credits.

Good stuff

In all honesty, it may have just been better to skip the scrolling pictures intro. They set me up for something like a slideshow, but I stuck through them to watch the animation. I know that not everyone will do that, and may vote low just because they see the slideshow in the beginning.

However, the animation itself is solid. Very stylish, as it was almost all purely silhouettes. Some of your shots looked a bit more like World War 1 though; namely the people running through the no-man's lands only to be brutally cut down. Some further innacuracies (mortars don't give off a flash from the barrel) but those are purely nitpicking, and do little to affect the overall quality of the flash.

The music was a bit of an anachronism, but the mood it set went well with the animation itself. Good work, looking forward to more.

Peacedood responds:

Thanks for the criticism. I was thinking about taking the pictures out, and now that I've seen it's score, I feel like I should have. I might remove them and then resubmit it, and see what that does for the overall score.

Also, I was aware of the mortar flash situation after watching a few videos on youtube. They also don't really jump back as much, but I took some artistic license, because smoke with no flash didn't really do it for me :P

A decent joke, nothing more

I watched the Dragonball trailer with a few friends, and our reaction was exactly like yours, just louder and angrier.

The art was mostly just a few screenshots and some half decent animation at the end. As you said, however - quick flash, and that it looks horrible. I don't think it looks quite that bad, but it's not great by any means.

The reaction itself is a pretty good joke. I agree with it completely.

I wish I coulda gotten that damned audio louder.

Thanks for the review.

I love your work, and this is no exception.

Your art and animation just keep getting better and better with each Siblings cartoon. Even though you said you got real lazy on the Twilight movie sequences, they still looked great for what they were meant to convey.

The humor never ceases to entertain either. Quick witted jokes and some over the top performances really make this episode stand out. Also, your take on Twilight was really entertaining. I didn't see the movie, but from everything I've heard from my friends about it, you hit it right on the head.

I really hope this flash gets the attention it deserves and gets front page! Great work, and really looking forward to the next Siblings flash!

Bobert-Rob responds:

I was pretty lazy with the Twilight parts. I worked a little more on the backgrounds than I thought I would, but it's all still pretty basic. Works, though. Thanks for the indepth review, dude, I always enjoy those. And thanks for watching! Thanks all around.

I have no idea who debiase is

But I actually enjoyed this. This random guy's head pasted on the Powerthirst guy's body, ripping the Taco Bell dog's head off to the US Army commercial music is pretty solid entertainment in my opinion.

Could have used more senseless dog killing, but this served rather well as stupid entertainment. Nice job.

great success

Cleared up a bit since your first one

I saw your last Madness Samurai, and I'm happy to hear you've explained a bit. The plot, although basic and overdone, is at least in place, and the Samurai has some motive for killing these bad guys.

Also, there is a little bit of blood in there now, and although it doesn't look great, it is there. You said you planned to improve it as well in your comments. I didn't notice the lack of feet till you pointed that out in your comments either.

The animation is still very jerky and could stand some improvement. You may want to up the frame rate to get more precise movements from your characters.

All in all, a slight improvement over the last Madness Samurai, but far from greatness.

MonoFlauta responds:

ok, i know the blood thing, and thanks for this tip:

"You may want to up the frame rate to get more precise movements from your characters."

thanks

Bog standard Madness tribute

Before you even start animating, you should really think of a plot for your cartoon. "Revenge" is the most common theme to pull out of nowhere, but revenge for what? Why does he want revenge? Why does he want blood? He has no motive here. That plot is stupidly simple, but at least it's a plot.

Second is actually one of your lines - "For revenge and blood" yet there is no blood in your animation. The graphics were bland and undetailed, even the ripped sprites. Animation was a little jerky, but was mostly okay. Sound was nothing special.

This flash just seems like any other Madness "tribute" in that it seems dull and uninspired. Some guys die, it ends really abruptly, and overall it leaves the viewer uninterested. Work in a story of some sort if you try this sort of thing again.

MonoFlauta responds:

"Why does he want revenge? Why does he want blood? "

its the first cap... you will know it later -.-

"there is no blood in your animation"

i said that i will put blood for the next one -.-

Whatchya doin' mister dinosaur?

Nice art and entertaining animation. Loved watching them snort lines of coke, just as best buddies should. But what a twist ending! Never saw it coming.

Nice SRM Transformers 4 poster, now everyone knows.

Coke Joke.

TheL1st responds:

yah me and a friend thought up the coke and i decided to add the scene after with them tripping out from it.

A start, if an overdone one

Madness flashes are dime a dozen here on Newgrounds. You're going to have to make a bigger impact with your flash to have it stand out. This is just another "guy A wants revenge on shady organization B" storyline, which is really week. The only difference is that this time he has a helmet.

The art is alright, but it may just be from a sprite sheet. The animation is jerky as well.

As for the .swf to .fla question - check your recycle bin. If it isn't there, you can just import the .swf into flash like you would any other file. That should do the trick.

Keep working. Once this is done you should try something non-Madness related. It'll do you good to work on original content with a more complex plot.

30001 responds:

thank you very much. i checked all my files and the SWF is beyond me. as for non madness related flashes, check my Zombific attack movies.

I'm Camtoons. I make cartoons. That's not confusing or anything.
