Life in the Portal

"Ain't it the truth?"

submission: Life in the Portal
date: April 6, 2009

Graphically, this was really good - animation was even smoother than a lot of your other work I've seen. Art design was simple, yet distinctive.

The humor was really solid, and I totally feel ya on the "Sonic Stickman Fight 2" joke. That's the unfortunate truth, but once in a while good stuff like this comes out. I really hope this flash gets some good recognition!

Hope you get Daily 5th ;)

Mad Mad Mario

"Rather vanilla"

submission: Mad Mad Mario
date: April 5, 2009

Advertisement preloader problems aside, I found this flash really difficult to enjoy. Graphically, it looked so-so. It was pretty low quality (even on high) and really didn't have much in the way of animation. Mostly just half decent lip synching.

The writing was pretty dreadful I have to say. It was just a lot of swearing really loud with no sense of comedic timing. What jokes there were were rather predictable, and really didn't have any impact on me. The fact it's a Mario parody telling the same jokes that have been told a thousand times isn't even something I'm factoring into this review - I know you were aware of that going in.

The ad at the end of the credits was funnier than the rest of the toon, but still just a plug to get more money. Nothing totally wrong with that; we could all use a few more bucks in our pockets.

Good luck on your next cartoon, and I hope it's more enjoyable than this one.

Watch it when your drunk. I notice that when some people drink, their bug falls out of their ass.

F@G@

"You have a disturbing infatuation here"

submission: F@G@

Considering that 3/4 of your submissions have "fag" in the title or the same damn song, it really seems like you're hiding something. The most homophobic people are usually the people deepest in the closet.

As for the flash itself, it's just what you've been doing for a while. Taking someone else's hard work (in this case the flash $eG@) and putting that song over it.

Absolute tripe. When you have so little talent that all you can do is try and make fun of other people for having any, that's truly unfortunate.

"Entertaining"

submission: Pokemanze
date: March 26, 2009

Graphically, this looked really nice. The characters seemed a little more fluid and solid, which made them look more "alive" on the screen. Granted, they didn't really do much besides sit around, but they looked good doing what they were doing. As to your comment on compressing from Anime Studio - yes, learn flash. It's not too hard and your work will be much better for it.

Humor wasn't absolutely fantastic, but it was pretty funny. I've heard similar jokes before, but you executed them well. The brand of humor itself was also familiar, but still entertaining.

I like that you respond to everyone's reviews. I do it too and people really notice you for it. Keep up the good work, and good luck learning flash!

Author's Response:

thanks man for your positive feed back on this. i see you made a good effort to write it for me.
I did work hard on the graphics. the lip sync mainly. it is what takes all the time up in my opinion.
i am absolutely getting flash asap. because i have fans waiting for the next episode! lol. If i am being honest i was inspired by robot chicken for this scene, so yeah on the BRAND of humour. but actually excusing the ecxessive swearing i didnt actually imitate/adapt anything i had heard before. i guess it is just first come first served with jokes lol. i didnt work too hard on the script. but i work hard on the animation and voice acting. i will definately work at my script. infact i have a writing parnter hopefully. :D:D:D
And yeah. the way i see it. people take their personal time to watch something for us. and then leave a comment. providing it is unoffensive or attitude free, they are more than worthy of response i think. thanks so much for your good positive approach to critiquing my work. you are one of the peeps who make being on this site bearable for me. really.... thanks :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:

Saturday Morning Watchmen

"Awesome!"

date: March 4, 2009

Every single aspect of this flash is absolutely fantastic.
Visuals are gorgeous, and the animation was silky smooth.
The song was fantastic too, and I absolutely adored all the inside references that only people who've read the book will know.

I love how Silk Spectre was basically Jewel or Rainbow Brite and Bubastis was like Snarf or Scooby Doo. As someone who grew up watching leftover 80's cartoons and all the great stuff from the early 90's, I really, really appreciated the humor in this.

My only complaint about this flash is that it ends. 5'd and fave'd. Excellent, excellent work.

Watchmen Movie is Coming!

"Nice!"

date: March 1, 2009

As a huge Watchmen fan, I really enjoyed this. The animation was minimal, but the art was very good. Nice caricatures of Rorschach, Nite Owl and Snyder himself.

In all honesty, I'm looking forward to the movie when it comes out on Friday. Cautiously optimistic, but still looking forward to it.

Liked the style of this flash - keep it up!

Baconnaise

"Funny idea, spotty execution."

submission: Baconnaise
date: March 1, 2009

The idea of a mayo/bacon spread is a hilarious one. Good concept for a flash. However, the flash itself is lacking.

Graphically, it was very dull, if reasonably clean. The only thing that really looked any good was the baconnaise itself, and that looked like a good Photoshop job. The character was simple and flat, as were the backgrounds.

The real problem I had was the sound. The main character sounded alright and his lip syncing was well animated, but the announcer voice was terrible. It sounded like the voice actor was trying to be loud but without actually being loud. You need to put some cojones in when you're voice acting, or else it sounds weak and amateur. Also, the standard Windows Sound Recorder echo effect is godawful and should never be used. Audacity has higher quality and is also free.

Decent concept - keep working at it!

"Novel concept"

submission: stickBrix
date: February 28, 2009

It was a cool idea mixing breakout with an enemy fighting game. However, the graphics were incredibly simple and the music was rather annoying. Also, the lack of a quality button really hurt this for me, as I played this on a low-end machine.
I liked the game, but it could use a bit more graphical "oomph" other than just having some flashing colors for a background.

demoreel V2: Sand edition

"Solid demo reel"

date: February 26, 2009

I really liked the classic look and animation of your characters. Very Tex Avery.

However, the slightly grainy look bothered me. I'm guessing you compiled a bunch of flash files in a movie maker program? It wasn't usually too noticeable, but it was pretty gritty when Fuel jumped up and down.

I know it's only a demo reel, but I'd really like to see what you could put together with these characters. I'll definitely watch some of your other flashes, and hope to see something with more meat on it in the future!

Turbo Slurpee Warriors

"Awesome"

date: February 26, 2009

The graphics were pretty flat, and the animation wasn't fantastic. However, the humor was solid. The self referential plugging of 7-11 products came off as really funny to me. I can't believe I missed this when it was on the front page.

Great work!
