]No Redemption[

"Competent, but definitely good for an early flash."

submission: ]No Redemption[
date: May 26, 2009

The concept to this flash is one I've seen quite a few times. A gruff-voiced killer doing his last job, the religious imagery and all are all things I've seen before in anime like Cowboy Bebop and Hellsing, and even a deal of western film. The animation style even reminded me of Metalocalypse a little by shooting for the dark, Gothic backgrounds.

The faces seemed almost overdetailed in comparison to everything else in the flash, like bodies and backgrounds. The art was pretty decent overall though. Some things changed in consistency - some shots the main character's arm was much thinner or thicker than the previous shot - but that's something you can work on.

One thing that really struck me was the opening/preloader and the ending credits. Very stylish and well done. It's rare to see someone put much apparent time or effort into either (I sure as hell don't very often), but yours really stood out. Something I really like to see.

Sound was overall pretty good - the sound quality itself was a little low, but the voice performances weren't bad by any means. The jarring shift in music between the flash itself and the ending credits wasn't great, but it didn't detract from it too much.

Overall, this is a good animation. It's not great, but it's solid. I really hope you can keep building your talents and make something even better next!

War, Snow and Fire

"Flawless."

submission: War, Snow and Fire
date: May 18, 2009

The most striking thing about this piece for me was the style. The strong contrast between red white and black really made me think of Soviet propaganda art. The Kremlin-style buildings in the background and the falling snow only reinforced this. Animation was fluid as well, although the art is what really stuck with me.

The story is both simple and touching, yet compelling. The innocence of the little girl and the dragon, tainted by her father's warmongering ways was an interesting theme that I've never seen here on Newgrounds before. It was also nice to see the story have a happy ending, as most "artsy" flashes here are really depressing.

All this was only made better by Harry's wonderful score. The fact that he composed it in a day only goes to show how talented he is.

The two of you made an excellent team with this animation. Here's hoping you can collaborate in the future and make something of this caliber again. Excellent work, 5/5 10/10 and favorited.

"Entertaining"

date: May 17, 2009

At first I thought this was going to be a ripoff of "Splash Attack" but it took a twist shortly in, which is good. Also good that you acknowledged it in the credits.

Graphics were pretty good, as was the sound. The twist at the end was pretty good as well.

Good work. Keep it up.

Brawl Sillies

"Late to the show."

submission: Brawl Sillies
date: May 16, 2009

You pretty much missed the Brawl Funnies train. If this came out the same day or following day as the Brawl Funnies/Brawl Taunts, it could have been at least a little more topical. The sound was too quiet to hear, and the jokes were ones that Brawl Funnies already made fun of. Too little, too late.

Author's Response:

Heh.

If you may refer to MY OTHER FLASH MOVIES, THAT CAME WAY BEFORE THAT FUCKIN' BRAWL FUNNIES "PLANE".

Coping With Death

"Charming!"

submission: Coping With Death
date: May 15, 2009

I really loved the simplistic yet expressive art style you applied to this toon. The ghost had a nice "weight" to him to, as he flopped around. Haven't seen ghosts interpreted that way before. I especially loved the bit where he tried to move through the bathroom door; that character had a lot of life for someone who's dead, if that makes sense. The art style was really nice too. Very minimalist and very befitting of the "life after death" angle.

The innocent music and antics really kept something that could normally be incredibly grim (IE - dying in a car crash) into a light, entertaining cartoon. Great choice using the Kinks too - it's always nice to hear music on Newgrounds that isn't techno or nu-metal.

My only issue with the flash is that it was a little plodding - however, a slower pace fit well with the animation and the events therein. Also, adding "To be continued" bugged me a little. I would have preferred to just see it end with him watching TV, in a fairly open-ended manner. However, I do look forward to another cartoon with this character, or frankly anything else you could make!

Nice work! 8/10 4/5

You've put up the same stolen video 3 nights in a row. You're just too thick to take a hint, aren't you? I'm sincerely surprised they haven't deleted all of your accounts yet. Here's hoping they will.

Chris Griffin Dance Video

"Unaltered, unedited, and just shot off TV"

date: May 12, 2009

Putting video from a TV show (nonetheless one as popular as Family Guy) and posting it here without changing a single damn thing is just flat out stealing.

You can post funny clips of other peoples' work on Youtube, but this isn't that sort of place. It's a funny clip from a funny show, but the camera work is shaky. Post this on Youtube if you really want to since you're not allowed to here.

"Pretty good, if a little nauseating."

date: May 9, 2009

The art style in this was pretty disturbing, but it was well executed and I can tell was what you were going for. The humor was really off-kilter, but I liked it. Taking a nap at the counter of a restaurant after drinking a cup of chili with your tongue is something that I find a bit entertaining, albeit strangely so.

I've seen a bunch of your Youtube poops, and it's nice to see a different side of your humor and artistry. Looking forward to more animations from you.
